Benefits of Sedation Dentistry
- Comfortable Treatment: You are not alone if you feel anxious about a visit to the dentist. We understand and empathize with these very real concerns. To help our patients who feel nervous about a dental procedures we’ve added sleep dentistry or sedation dentistry as another tool in our dental toolbox. Sedation dentistry is available for any patient who requests it and we offer it as another option to ensure we’re doing all we can to make every dental visit comfortable. “Oral Conscious Sedation,” another aspect of sedation dentistry, allows patients to be sedated, yet still fully responsive. Many of our patients opt for this procedure as the side effects more quickly subside than with anesthesia.
- Oral Surgery: The goal of modern dentistry is to prevent tooth loss. When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction (removal) of the tooth may be the only course of treatment. A series of full-mouth x-rays allows us to see a complete picture of the positioning of your teeth for performing tooth extractions. These types of x-rays also allow us to see if there is sufficient space for your third molars (Wisdom Teeth) to fully erupt. In addition, it is an excellent diagnostic tool for evaluating the supporting bone for possible cyst or tumors. While most surgeries are performed at our facility, Dr.Thomas may choose to refer to a oral surgeon for more complex cases.

This was a case of a 48 year old woman who was simply tired of the discoloration and gaps between her teeth. She had been avoiding dentistry for many years because of dental phobia. Utilizing sedation dentistry to calm her fears, together with teeth whitening and porcelain crowns and bridges, we helped her to regain an active social life.
